Christmas morning for sexual predators… or equal rights?

7460This weekend I read a news story that two years ago you would have probably read in some dark alley tabloid. Nope, this one came directly from the news. The article was entitled HOUSTON MAYOR FORCES ALL TO OPEN GIRLS ROOMS TO MEN.

Yes, unfortunately, you read this right.  Houston Mayor, Annise Parker, along with the help of 11 other council members pushed an ordinance through that will make Houston bathrooms, showers and dressing facilities gender neutral.  According to Breitbart news,

Houston’s bathrooms, showers, and dressing facilities will now be open to all, regardless of gender, gender identity, gender expression, or other predilection of gender behavior. By an 11-6 vote of the Houston City Council, Mayor Annise Parker achieved this as the crowning jewel of her tenure as mayor.

Some may read this and think, well here go the gay activists again, shoving their agenda down my throat. (and they would be right)  I have written many articles on the dangers of the gay agenda, to families, christian businesses, churches and how it will all impact our religious 1_61_010909_bathroomfreedom.  However, this one hit a bit closer to home for me as a mom of four children. As moms and dads we would move heaven and earth to protect our little ones.

Protecting our children is engraved in the mom/dad DNA.

When I read this story, I immediately wanted to go grab my children and vow never to leave the house with them again.  A little dramatic? I don’t think so. For the sexual predators in Houston, an ordinance like this is like Christmas morning!  No longer do they have to lurk behind park doors hoping parents are not watching their children, they can now just walk straight into the bathroom or shower with your child.

Michael Kubosh, a Houston City Councilman explains it in detail:

The bathroom issue that they tried to water down was just ONE of the problems of this ordinance (sadly called Houston Equal Rights Ordinance or HERO). The impact this ordinance will have to christian businesses such as photographers and bakeries is devastating. Five hundred to five thousand dollar fines await those businesses who do not comply.Businesses will be forced to provide services that go against their biblical beliefs and conscious or pay the piper.

What has happened to us America?  When did we lose our spine?

Have we truly gone so far away from God that we have given up the fight?  This article said there were 150 clergy men and women who were trying to stop this ordinance. They were excited at 300 protesters coming out to help. Kudos to them, but tell me, where were the rest of the congregants?  Why were the city streets not shut down due to the traffic trying to get to that meeting? Was American Idol on that night?  Maybe it was the finale of Dancing with the Stars!

This sadly reminds me of the HJR3 battle right here in Indiana. We asked our lawmakers (a super-majority) to fight for marriage for us. We asked them to stand on the front lines and protect our rights, all while we stayed home lounging in our religious recliners with the remote control in our hands saying “someone else will do it for me.”  We  had prayer alerts blockaded by church board members keeping the “controversial” topics from the pulpits.  Churches were silent, colleges were silent, and we were silent all because we were afraid. WE  gave the enemy a battle because we were cowards and bought the lie of apathy.

All while the gay activists like the ones in Houston were pounding the pavement to create gross laws like the one they just passed. A Sexual perverts dream.

Intolerant?

Bigot?

Unchristian?

Do those names scare this mama?  No they don’t….

What scares this mama is the kind of world she is raising her children in without backup from the church. That scares me more than any names the left comes up with.

Wake up America… If not for yourself… will you do it for your children?
